1) Ensure that the wires on the wire frame are clean and are not coated with dust or debris.
2) Ensure that the wireframe and collecting plate are both completely dry before powering on the unit.
As any moisture will disrupt the electrical process, cause the crackling sound, and worse case, damage the unit.
3) Ensure that the contact points on both the wire frame and collecting plate are clean to ensure a solid and stable connection
